About Arogya Sanjeevani: From Coverage to Eligibility
When it comes to financial planning, you want to make sure that you have everything covered. But you can’t always predict medical costs. Accidents and unexpected surgeries happen, and those can easily deplete your funds.
That’s why it’s important to have a health insurance policy in place to protect you against these expenses. Although there are a number of policies already out there, you may want to consider the Arogya Sanjeevani to help cover your needs.
What Is the Arogya Sanjeevani?
The Arogya Sanjeevani is a standardized insurance policy approved by the IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority in India) in order to make it as straightforward as possible for customers. It provides financial support for you and your family when those unexpected medical emergencies arise, at the benefit of paying affordable premiums.
Because it is a standardized policy, it is pretty easy to understand and is the same across the board. The only difference may be the amount of premium you have to pay between insurance providers based on the services you want provided.
What Are the Features of the Arogya Sanjeevani Policy?
Not all policies are going to be the same, but here is one such example of an Arogya Sanjeevani policy provided by an insurance company:
● Premium starting at .03 lakhs
● Insurance sum of 10 lakhs
● Tax exemption on premiums up to 0.25 lakhs
● No medical checkups are required for people under 55 before applying for a policy, as long as you don’t have any existing medical conditions
● The policy can be renewed for as long as you want
This is just an example of the kinds of benefits you could receive from an Arogya Sanjeevani policy.
Are There Any Concerns One Should Be Aware Of?
There are some features of the plan that doesn’t make it suitable for everyone. For example, there is an age limit when purchasing the policy. You have to be between the ages of 18 and 65 in order to buy the policy. If you want to have children covered, then you can purchase a family floater plan that covers children as young as 3 months old.
Another concern is that you cannot buy this policy to only cover your children. You have to cover your children as well as yourself and your spouse. This is because the Arogya Sanjeevani policy only allows either a family floater plan or an individual policy: you can cover your entire family or you can buy an individual policy for each member of your family.
Keep in mind that there is a waiting period under this policy. Before you can receive a specific benefit, a period of time must pass from the date of your policy. For example, if you purchased a policy on April 1, 2021, you won’t be able to claim any hospitalization costs until April 30, 2021. This waiting period is in place to prevent policyholders from immediately making claims on their medical conditions. Consider the Arogya Sanjeevani policy for you and your family before your finances start to suffer from medical expenses.
